Also me: “Oh my god I want a 205 GTi track car!”
Or a Clio Williams:
Mmmm... French hot hatch goodness.

Clio Williamses are so cool. Lane Motor Museum in Nashville has one and it’s super clean.

The only Hondas I’ll own will have this badge on them:

I know, they’re handsome little cars with solid performance cred.

*puts that badge on a prelude*

I kinda like 4th gen VTECs, but I knew a guy in high school who broke his. It revved by itself at idle, which was hilarious.

Boy racers ruined many warm and hot hatches sadly. One minute of silence for all the lost GTis, XR4tis, GSIs, G40s and G60s, Williamses and others lost.

So you wouldn’t have an s2000 or NSX?

No you don’t. You want one as a fun weekend car. These are so much fun to drive bone stock. I drove my ‘88 GTi a lot yesterday and shot a series of pictures for an ad. I have to let it go :(

You have to wonder if VTEC could be considered an emissions cheat device. It doesn’t kick in during normal driving or emissions testing, but only when thrashing the vehicle. A friend had one of the last Preludes and was complaining about the poor mileage and soot on the back of the car. He had a VTEC addiction and nearly every shift was done at redline.
Just like the S2000, which can’t outperform a Civic if shifted at 5,500 RPM, VTEC is the only thing that makes the crazy performance of that vehicle possibile, albeit not cleanly...

If it was declared and approved, and I have to think it was (especially given how obvious it was (so getting away with not declaring it wasn’t happening), and the fact that it does only kick in when thrashing it (so it was likely to be approved)), then it’s merely an Auxiliary Emissions Control Device, not a defeat device.
Although, Honda did get caught disabling the misfire detection on some mid-1990s cars: https://www.epa.gov/sites/production/files/2014-06/documents/defeat.pdf

Not an S2k fan, and NSXs were badged as Acuras here.

I can agree with this.

“ Emissions control ” - funny.
Maybe ‘cheat’ wasn’t the right word as it wasn’t hidden, but merely exploiting loopholes in the rules. But everyone does it, or something similar, like VVT.

Looks super clean, I love those wheels. So much French style.

It was quite a modern design in 1983, when it became available. Mine’s utterly original, except for the radio. I posted the ad online today (it’s in Dutch).
